Since 1968, collage has been one of my more creative forms of personal expression. Not the abstract style or Dadaist style that you normally think of when you think about collage. But a more pictorial style, that you might see in a commercial illustration or on an album or cd cover.

I have always been fascinated with the surrealistic effect created when you place unrelated images into foreign backgrounds, then replace other key elements to create a new place and time.

The 21 collages on this page (including the header) were gathered from various magazine sources, then cut and assembled by hand. This is a long and tedious process, requiring hours of cutting with an X-acto blade, fitting and gluing. I didn’t use my computer, except to touch-up edges and adjust color.

Actual finished sizes range from 5"x7" to 14"x17". (Generally the ones with more detail are the larger originals.)

You can only see these images here, on Brookenney.com, as they have never been shown in a gallery or been published commercially. They are art. For art sake only.
